BPGC Christmas Event

"Deck the halls with boughs of holly, Fa lalalala lalalala". A familiar tune is played in the shopping malls. Yes, it's the time of the year again when Mid Valley will display its all-white Christmas wonderland, Sunway Pyramid with its lovely Reindeer effigy at the main concourse, and the Curve will once again don its blue Christmas theme. This is how we city folks know that Christmas is just around the corner, which means cheap discounts, unbelievable bargains and more cheap discounts. But really, is Christmas just all about year-end sales, presents and a big juicy turkey? What is the true meaning of Christmas?

Well, this Christmas, Bandar Puchong Gospel Centre is having its very own Christmas service where you can discover what Christmas is really all about. The service will include a mesmerising sketch cum cantata by some of the best actors and actresses in Puchong, Kelana Jaya and Cheras, a musical performance by some of the younger lads and lasses, an energetic, modern 'hands-on' performance by the Youth, singing some all-time favourite Yuletide Carols and much more. Sounds interesting? Why not join this momentous event and bring your friends and family members along so that all of you can experience this truly blessed once-a-year affair.

The details of the event are as below:

Venue: Bandar Puchong Gospel Centre

Date: 25th December 2009

The Young Ones

On 15 November 2009, the Sunrise Kids had their annual year-end Prize Giving and Graduation ceremony. They shone on the stage with a short skit entitled The Man, where the little ones dressed up as plants and animals and the older ones played worldly characters.

Aren't they cute?

The Sunrise Kids bids adieu to four 12-year-olds who graduate into the Youth next year, and they each gave a testimony of how the Sunrise Kids has taught and encouraged them to follow in Jesus’ footsteps.

Later that evening, 14 members of the church, most of them from the Youth, took to the waters of baptism. Each of them gave personal testimonies, one of which was so touching it brought tears to this author’s eyes, of how the Lord has led them to take this step. As there were so many candidates this time round, we needed 2 deacons and one elder to baptise them all!

The Dawn of a New Beginning

Recently, the four deacons of BPGC signed on the dotted lines of the S&P agreement for the acquisition of the adjacent unit of our existing shop lot in Pusat Bandar Puchong, from Focus on The Family. The church has been growing steadily over the years, since we first started the work back in 1995, and there was a real need for more space.

One of the 'taiko' putting his sign on the dotted line

We know that this acquisition is truly God's will for us (there was a time a few years back that we could have purchased this shop lot but we could not afford it) and we can truly see God's hand working throughout the entire process of the acquisition - how the loan from the bank to fund this purchase was easily obtained and the members of the church have been giving generously of their money and time.

A Gotong Royong was organised on 7 November 2009, as a kick start to this new beginning. About 30 of the members turned up to lend a hand in cleaning the new shop lot, all four floors of it! The Gotong Royong started at 9.30 am (most of the members were punctual - another good sign J) and we were able to wrap things up by 1.00 pm. Thereafter, more than half of the group invaded the McDonalds at Tesco for lunch, and it was a good end to the heavy workout we had!

First we vacuum, then we mop!

Incidentally, this blog is also new. There has always been a need for us to reach out to the community and we feel that this is one avenue that would appeal to most, especially the younger generation. This blog is meant not only for BPGC members but for our friends and families as well. We value your contributions so feel free to submit articles or pictures on the activities of the church and the Puchong community or places of interest in and around Puchong. We also welcome your thoughts and/or questions you may have on God's word and even prayer requests! You may send these to

Please note that all contributions will go through the administrators before they are posted, and where necessary, censorship, including approval from our Elders and Deacons will be effected.
