BPGC Family Camp , STM Seremban 4th - 6th June 2010

Camp Theme
The Power of God's Word

Camp Verse
"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path."
Psalm 119:105

What a camp! BPGC 2010 family camp ROCKS! It was a good 3 days of retreat which was jointly organized and led by the dynamic team from Scripture Union. The programme was geared towards fostering better integration among members from different age groups. The camp climax, Tribal Gathering was an exiting night of creative expression of team work.

Snippets from the Tribal Gathering

His Royal Highness King Sou To Mou To and his faithful entourage successfully executed the plan to assemble all his tribes for a memorable night filled with fun and laughter.

All the 8 tribes in King Sou To Mou To's kingdom presented their best gift to the King. The King is well pleased with his tribes. Many talents have been uncovered and they will soon be chosen to serve.

See you next year!

Living for God

By DINESH KUMAR

It is so very easy to live in sin and blatantly transgress the holy laws of the Almighty Creator even after receiving that grace that surpasses all knowledge. Sure, there was a time, last week or fifty years ago, when we did find ourselves wandering this earth aimlessly, living lives of carnality and fulfilling the desires of the flesh and yet devoid of peace. There was that part of our soul in which existed a boundless chasm of darkness and we did seek to fill the chasm with the things of the world, deceiving ourselves that the darkness would disappear soon. And, ah, when we did sink, like the Prodigal Son, under the weight of sin, our hands reached out to our Heavenly Father and our tiny voice did call out to Him. What sweetness did we taste at that moment when our Saviour pulled us out of the quicksand of our iniquities, washed us with His blood and assured us, with that divine voice “You are mine; I am yours”. Oh, glorious day! We did receive the love and grace of God!

But the Enemy is shrewd and cunning. How he sought us, the Father of Lies! How he made witty arguments in an attempt to bring us to the way of darkness! How the Son of Perdition did lie ready to pounce on us at our weakest moments! And yet our Lord is always ready to keep us safe, if we but utter that prayer of faith. But, oh! It is to our shame when we to sin do live in self-imposed oblivion. How we live lives unworthy of our Redeemer’s work of salvation, thinking proudly His grace has saved us and we are free from the Divine Condemnation.

The Apostle did declare in the Second Epistle to the Corinthians that “And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again” (2 Cor 5:15). What the Apostle is driving at but that we should no longer continue in our selfish ways and should no longer do as we see fit. That was not the reason why the Lamb of God was slaughtered at Calvary, so that we, children of the dust, may carry on with the pettiness that is our lives. But He did give of Himself that we in return may live a reversed life, a life devoted to Him with gladness and pure devotion. Let us then examine ourselves and have that much needed conversation with our soul. Repent. Fall down before the Redeemer and ask of His forgiveness. Live for Him.

Our golden boys

Our volleyball team has won the gold medal! The finals this morning was played to great fanfare and a good turnout of supporters for the combined gospel hall team which won the gold in straight sets. Three cheers for our BPGC boys, Soh Wee and Yoon Ghet, who were part of the team. The team has been meeting regularly to practice for this event, playing at least twice in one week. We want to thank all the team members for their dedication and time and the supporters who came this morning and gave the players confidence through their endless shouts of support.

We are grateful for the Lord's blessing and protection as he has watched over all the players from the many churches (a total of 18 churches and 480 players participated in this event) as there were zero injuries throughout the games. For this inaugural event, the overall Champions trophy went to FGA which played well in most of the games, and the 1st runner up was PJEFC.

The final roll-call for combined gospel hall in the games are as follows:
  • Golf - Champions
  • Volleyball - Champions
  • Bowling - 4th place
  • Table-tennis - did not make play-offs
  • Basketball - did not make play-offs
  • Badminton - did not make play-offs
For a small congregation such as ours, it's an amazing feat to have 4 gold medals with 2 members participating in the golf and volleyball events each. For those who did not win any medals, do not be disappointed as you have done great just by being a part of the team. We want to thank all participants who fought hard and fair, and gave of their best even if their best was not good enough. As the speaker mentioned today, there can only be one winner in each event but the 1st Inter-denomination Sports Carnival is not just about winning and losing nor is about raising funds (we did raise quite a fair bit for Asian Beacon) but it's about giving of our best for God and how we are ultimately one team, God's body, even if we are from different denominations. All praise to our great God!

They've done it!

Brothers Alex and Peng Foong have done it! They were crowned champions of the golf event, together with the other members of the combined gospel hall team for the Inter-denomination games, held yesterday. Playing with the bare minimum of 16 players (we did not have any reserves), the members played well to lift the gold and we are told that Peng Foong played exceptionally well! Our heartiest congratulations to the pair who took the time to participate in this event and at their own cost too!

We still have the opportunity of lifting the Overall Champions trophy if we win the volleyball event. So, we look to the volleyball team as they fly the Orange flag this Saturday, 6th February 2010, at the finals. Come and show your support and have a fun time of fellowship with the other members of God's family as we are all one in the Kingdom of God.

We're in the Finals!

The preliminary rounds for the Inter-Denomination Games have concluded and our volleyball team has made it to the finals! On a day where our representing teams for the table-tennis, badminton and basketball were defeated, the volleyball team provided that burst of sunshine amidst the gloom at the PJEFC Sports Centre.

The play-off for the gold medal will be held next Saturday, 6th February 2009 at 11.00 am. All members are encouraged to attend and cheer on the team. After all, it isn't everyday that we get the chance to win a medal. J  The official results will also be announced on this day.

Over at the Tropicana Golf & Country Club, the bowling team narrowly missed out on a medal place, losing by one point in the preliminary rounds, thus only managing to make the play-off for the 3rd place. Then, a couple of players buckled under the pressure and lack of practice and we had to settle for 4th place instead.

However, this competition has been a great time of fellowship and exposure for some of our younger members. If this event does become an annual event, you can be sure that we'd be better prepared for it. A round of applause for the members, Lewis in particular, who have contributed their time and energy to make this event a success.

Not forgetting too the golfers who will take to the greens this Wednesday, 3rd February 2009 at the Tropicana Golf & Country Club. Our best wishes to our members who have been selected to represent the Combined Gospel Hall group.

Pictures of this event will be posted later so come back and visit soon!

The basketball, volleyball, table-tennis and badminton matches will be held at the PJEFC Sports Centre and bowling will be at the Tropicana Golf & Country Club. Do come and cheer for our members!

The finals will be held on 6th February 2010, 9.00 am to 3.00 pm, and the committee members have arranged for a time of fun and games for all. So, please come and join us for a time of fellowship and meeting the brethren from other churches.
